In the greater México City area, there are four main long-distance bus stations — Terminal Central de Autobuses del Norte, Terminal Central del Sur, Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Oriente, and Central de Autobuses del Poniente.

Generally speaking, each station specializes in providing service to a specific region to the north, south, east, and west of México City, although some destinations, such as Oaxaca, are served by multiple stations, sparing travelers additional time consuming trips across México City on the way to their final destinations.

All bus station have either guardaria (baggage check) or lockers (Mex$5 -12) for temporary storage of luggage, ATMs, internet, information booths, food services, and newsstands.

Moreover, direct bus service to nearby cities is available from the airport.
